A Little About Me and My Approach
About Me
I’m someone who has always had a deep passion for psychotherapy and supporting people through life’s challenges. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help. My own experiences—both personal and professional—have given me real insight into how heavy things can feel at times. I approach each person with empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to understand their world. For me, therapy isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling rooted in compassion, connection, and the belief that everyone deserves to be heard and supported.
I’m a mum of five teenagers, so I truly understand the challenges and joys that come with this stage of life. For several years, I took time out to care for my children and other family members, which gave me invaluable insights into family dynamics and the importance of support during times of change.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a secondary school environment, an experience which has deepened my commitment to helping young people navigate their unique challenges.
I hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from IICP College, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Adolescent Psychotherapy. My studies are guided by the expertise of renowned psychotherapist and author Bronagh Starrs through the Dublin Counselling and Therapy Centre and the University of Northampton.
In addition to my formal education, I’ve completed a range of courses related to neurodiversity, including Autism and ADHD. My passion for understanding ADHD led me to undertake research studies on the subject. I have also completed training in supporting individuals dealing with many struggles including trauma, suicide ideation, self-harm, anxiety, and depression.
I look forward to bringing my experience, both personal and professional, to support you on your own journey.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s unique experience. I believe that building a genuine, trusting relationship is at the heart of effective therapy, and I strive to create a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued.
When working with adolescents, I take a relational and developmental perspective, recognizing that this stage of life is marked by significant change and growth. I approach each young person with empathy and understanding, acknowledging the challenges of finding their place in the world. Our work together focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where they can explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop the tools to navigate life’s complexities. I recognize that every adolescent’s journey is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet them where they are, fostering a sense of safety and acceptance.
With adults, I take an integrative approach, drawing from person-centered, gestalt, and existential perspectives. I believe in meeting you as a whole person—honoring your story, your struggles, and your strengths. My work is guided by the principles of compassion and non-judgment, focusing on understanding your experiences and helping you make sense of your emotions. Whether we are exploring past experiences, navigating current challenges, or envisioning your future, I am here to support you with empathy and respect.
My goal is to walk alongside you as you uncover your own wisdom and find ways to move forward with clarity and confidence. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together, we will create a space where healing and growth can take place.
